Google has been giving many sites and blogs Authority status. An authority site or blog comes up with sub-listings on Google search engine results page. Recently GII came up with authority links, the owner of this site is Amit Bhawani.

The next site that showed authority status is the Phplynx. There are also a few more directory websites that are showing those sub listings but on my datacenters they are coming up as normal listings. Allthelook and cascandra are a few of those. Another strong web directory, Romow, is coming up as authority is google.

Congrats to all those that achieved this status, previously only the really strong sites used to have this status, even today only a few directories have this status. what ever may be the reason, good backlinks or nice in-linking, the sub-listings always looks good.

Tips to Free Directory Submission

Free directory submission has always been the easiest way to build backlinks and improve your anchor text in serps. Even today I beat a lot of my competitors in serps by doing free directory submission. 

Here’s a few free directory lists where you can start your submission:

  1. Add url
  2. Vile silencer list
  3. Directory critic list
  4. Good web directory list

Here are a few points that you should look for, before submitting to free directories! 

  • If the site that you are submitting to a free directory is PR – N/A then I suggest you, don’t submit. It is not going to work, in most cases your links will not be approved. Even submitting pr0 or pr1 sites are pretty useless, because most directories, free or paid sorts their directory listings by the means of PR. So if you have a new website that dose not have sufficient pr then it will go deep in the listings. In most directories those inner pages are not even indexed, so it’s a waste to have your sites listed there. That’s why I always submit my new sites as a featured listings, it comes on top of the categories and get a nice backlinks, and also enjoy some traffic. 

  • Try to submit to newly launched free web directories, as those approves the listings pretty quickly, they don’t even edit your anchor text, so chances are that you can actually have your desired anchor text. The new directories will slowly get pr and traffic, so it’s not a bad investment, and after all it’s free. 

  • Read the FAQ! The rules of different directories are different. I don’t accept adult, gambling, pills etc in my directory, so if I get those I delete and ban them, but others might accept them, so it is always better to read the guidelines before submission, am sure you don’t want your sites to get banned! 

  • Are you using some kind of automated tools to submit to directories, I suggest you to strongly think again before using those tools. You submit to multiple directories with the same text, the crappy free directories accepts you and the good ones delete your listings and give you a ban so that you can never ever submit your sites in good free directories. It is highly suggested that you submit your sites manually with different submission text to the good free directories to ensure your listings. That will also help your details page to get indexed and get good PR. If you can’t write 5 lines describing your own website, you should stop calling yourself a web-master IMHO
